Position Summary

Under the direction of the Director of Human Resources, using his/her knowledge and understanding of the human resources function the Talent & Retention Specialist will proactively identify top talent for technical, skilled, semi-skilled and entry level positions for all KMC facilities. Methods of recruitment include, but are not limited to: Advertising, social media, networking events, resume search engines, posting KMC opportunities online and yet to be identified out of the box opportunities. She/he will be responsible for the entire recruiting process – including finding, filtering, qualifying, presenting candidates and onboarding. In addition, this position will collaborate with hiring managers to develop continued onboarding techniques allowing recently hired employees to be brought up to speed quickly and effectively allowing them to be contributing members to the team.

Skills/Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum of one-year recruiting experience in the manufacturing industry. 
  • Creative view of sourcing, with a desire to utilize technology as a recruiting tool.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks, while maintaining a results oriented mindset without compromising quality or service.
  • Quickly learn new software and navigate the internet with ease.
  • Communicate effectively and efficiently through verbal and written correspondence.
  • Ability to work independently as well as on a team.
  • Bring a positive attitude and team player mentality.
  • Detail oriented and intuition for culture fit while interviewing candidates.

Key Responsibilities

Recruiting

  • Establish and maintain professional relationships with high schools, technical schools, universities, alumni organizations and community organizations, to help identify and source qualified candidates.
  • Effectively use social media communication through Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter to reach candidates.
  • Manage job postings on a variety of external job sites; use creativity to identify new tools/resources.
  • Source and develop passive candidates through networking, complex internet searches, social media, research, etc.
  • Maintain accurate and thorough documentation within the company’s ATS.
  • Interview and assess candidates’ qualifications through a combination of behavioral interviews and competency based evaluations.
  • Provide fact-based and candid assessments of talent and make clear recommendations.
  • Develop a network of ready-to-work candidates to meet the current and anticipated needs of our organization
  • Manage wage negotiations from pre-qualifying to hire.
  • Ability to work across the organization to achieve results.

Onboarding, Training, and HR Liaison

  • Become an expert for the Onboarding process and the point of contact for new hires and hiring managers.
  • Initiate the Onboarding process, troubleshoot all questions throughout the process.
  • Train new employees on KMC’s ongoing training opportunities to support the company’s growth and success.
  • In coordination with the Director of Human Resources, implement full cycle training and systems including programs for new and experience employees, as well as leader development programs.
  • Establish long term relationships with new hires and provide career coaching when needed.
  • Will provide backup responsibilities to the Sr. HR Generalist when needed.

Employee Engagement and Corporate Recruitment Branding

  • Contributor to employee event planning and execution of employee engagement events.
  • Identify methods to gauge overall employee satisfaction or gain feedback/insight to improve our employer of choice brand.
  • Communicate the value of the brand to both internal and external audiences.
  • Continue to grow and build the KMC brand through various social media outlets
  • Other duties as assigned or required.
