5:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

Monday through Thursday with overtime Friday and Saturday as needed.

Position Summary

Safely set-up, operate and tear-down all weld equipment, including robotic welders, to KMC standards. Trains and provides guidance to Weld Equipment Operators and Weld Equipment Setup Operators.

Skills/Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or abilities required.

  • High school diploma or GED and a minimum of two years of relevant experience setting up Weld Equipment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to count, add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure including whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, specifications, and memos. Ability to effectively communicate with customers and other employees of the organization.
  • Able to utilize computer and input data
  • Ability to interpret part prints
  • Ability to accurately measure manufactured parts using metrology equipment

Key Responsibilities

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time.

  • Setup, operate and tear-down all weld equipment, including robotic welders, to KMC standards to ensure jobs can be run safely and at-rate
  • Evaluate current production runs and submit documentation for changes (routings, OMS, etc) as needed
  • Accurately record labor, inventory, tooling and production job data in ERP system
  • Performs basic material handling duties with the use of carts and pallet jacks to move material and tooling
  • Maintain equipment thru weekly preventative maintenance tasks and submit timely maintenance work orders
  • Troubleshoot setups and production runs and make modifications, including programming, within specified limits – submit maintenance requests and tool maintenance requests, as needed
  • Change & replace consumables for welders, as well as reworking electrodes to like-new condition
  • Monitor stock of robotic weld supplies and notify personnel to reorder, as needed, to support production
  • Work with Manufacturing and Manufacturing Engineering to implement continuous improvement ideas
  • Will train and provide direction to Weld Equipment Setup Operators and Weld Equipment Operators
  • Must be able to perform all the duties of a Weld Equipment Setup Operator
  • Other duties as assigned or required
