Master Scheduler/ Planner

Hours

5:00am-3:30pm

Position Summary

This key position is responsible for the coordination of fulfillment activities to support production at all three KMC facilities. This individual will be responsible for managing, training and mentoring the planning team; leveraging systems and processes to ensure materials and resources are available for production; and for providing inputs to the long term capacity planning of the business. This individual will aggressively seek opportunities for inventory, lead-time and cost reductions.

Skills/Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or abilities required.

  • A bachelor’s degree in Operations or Supply Chain Management and a minimum of six years of production planning experience in the metal fabrication industry or similar commodity
  • Knowledge of ERP systems; APIC’s and Lean Manufacturing methodologies
  • Excellent computer skills with Microsoft Office products
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, purchase orders, production schedules and procedures manuals
  • Prior negotiation experience and an effective communicator
  • Highly motivated self starter, detail oriented; ability to prioritize

Key Responsibilities

  • Train and mentor team members on scheduling and planning procedures.
  • Review ERP reporting and take appropriate action.
  • Generate jobs and release to manufacturing as required. 
  • Monitor delivery/production schedules and expedite as necessary.
  • Coordinate and distribute raw materials to satellite facilities.
  • Coordinate the introduction of new parts/projects into manufacturing
  • Inventory management to include development and sustainment of a cycle count program.
  • Process inventory transactions/adjustments according to departmental procedures.
  • Identify inventory, lead-time and cost reduction opportunities.
  • Purchase defined materials, components and services.
  • Maintains a safe & clean work environment & housekeeping standards
